Silver Sands in the Kingdom of Fife

Updated: Jul 2, 2019

Head north across the river forth from Edinburgh and you will enter the kingdom of Fife. Popular for both locals and tourists alike is the beautiful village of Aberdour with its well kept beach 'silver sands'

Silver sands beach is one of the most popular and attractive beaches on the Fife coastline and a great place to spend a few nights away in the camper van with the dogs

This camper van life is exhausting !!!

Thanks for looking, maybe see you there !!!

Fife Coastal Path

As well at the beautiful sandy beach, it also sits within the Fife Coastal Path (The Path). This 117 mile way-marked trail runs from the Forth estuary in the south to the Tay estuary in the north

Follow the link in the photographs below to find out more

Cool off and a drink before heading back

Aberdour Castle

If you ever get fed up with the beach, Aberdour castle is only a 10 minute walk from the beach. I've never been inside, so can't comment on whats on offer, but we have walked through it's grounds which are well kept and picturesque.

The castle was also used as a location in the hit amazon prime video series, Outlander

Maritime War History

If you head up to the lighthouse, past the boat house you can see the remains of HMS Tarlair. At the beginning or the first world war, German u-boats had become a major threat. HMS Tarlair was at the centre of a highly concentrated effort to defeat the German u-boat.

Some remains can still be seen

Great views across the river to the historic Forth Rail Bridge
